Has anyone here actually relied on a Japanese auction sheet translator tool before bidding on JDM imports? I’m looking at a 2010-ish Honda Fit or maybe a Mazda Axela, budget around £6-7k landed in the UK. I’ve been browsing auction listings through an importer and honestly the grading system and markings on the sheet are confusing me. I don’t want to end up with something that looks clean but turns into a headache after MOT or DVLA registration.

I’ve tried reading guides but I still get lost on things like interior grades, repair marks, and whether small scratches matter. One dealer suggested using a Japanese auction sheet translator tool again while going through live listings, but I’m not sure how accurate these really are or if they miss context. I keep thinking about insurance costs once it’s registered here too, especially if the car has any hidden damage that only shows up later on UK roads.

Has anyone here actually bought blind from auction sheets and regretted it? How strict are UK MOT testers on previously repaired imports? And is it safer to pay extra for a UK dealer stock instead of importing?
