Art inspires engagement. Art encourages interactions. Art transforms us inside and out. I’m a high school teacher and the founder of Kindness Club International where our community mural program is vital to transforming neglected buildings and connecting communities. My murals transform environments and relationships. They each have a message that creates opportunities for people to stop and have meaningful conversations about how we can “Be the Change or how “Kindness begins with us.” or how we are “Growing together.” I install murals with students in schools, 14 in Albuquerque, and in public spaces including the Albuquerque Aquarium Otter Exhibit. I would be honored to be chosen to create a mural for our community, with our community. If I am chosen, I would like to engage in conversations with the community close to the wall to hear their vision for how kindness and love can change in the world. Community voices would be a source of my inspiration.
