Hello. I am a New Mexico-born multimedia artist, specializing in illustration, painting, print and sculpture. I moved to Portland, Oregon in 2006, where I soon after received my Bachelor of Science degree after studying Fine and Performing Arts at Portland State University. I furthered my art practices from there, showcasing a few works in some exhibitions along the way, but decided to move back to Albuquerque in 2015, where, upon my return, I was pleased to see how the art culture had grown and was flourishing. As a seasoned artist, this growth has not only given me more inspiration to continue my own studio practices, but it has encouraged me to seize even more opportunities that may allow me to creatively contribute to my hometown community.
Despite my aforementioned studies, art and creativity has always been encouraged within my family. Like Harold and his purple crayon, my imagination was fostered at a young age and I basically drew my way through childhood. My most formative years were spent, as millions of other eighties-era children, plopped in front of the television set, watching animated programs like He-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninjas Turtles, Transformers and so many others. Saturday morning cartoon infatuations soon turned to video games and comic books, and by the time I was in high school, my life was filled with hip hop and skate culture. Completely awestruck by the bold characters, tangled lettering and explosive colors of graffiti and graphic design, I soon realized that the these influences, no matter how subtle, would forever find a place at home within my art.
Currently, I work mostly in oils on canvas and skateboard decks. It has been a continuous goal of mine as an artist to expand the scale of my work from standard-sized canvases to a larger surfaces, so I began tackling some wall space last year.
